Dresses

Good news… I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico. Just kidding. I found my dress!
It was a very fun experience. Linda (Matthew’s mother), my mom, and my friend Alana all went out with me last Saturday to try on dresses. They were all so helpful! My mom helped me get in and out of all the dresses because some of them were a pain in the butt. Alana and Linda both took plenty of pictures and wrote everything down in a notebook for me to help me keep track of which dresses I liked.
I was a little worried about finding the right one because normal dresses do not look good on me at all. I knew the basics of what I wanted so that helped a lot. We started at David’s Bridal, and after trying on 3 or 4 dresses that looked really pretty, I found one that I really liked. We asked the sales girl to hold it for me while we went to a few more places. I pretty much knew that it was mine though, because it was everything that I wanted, and it fit perfectly!
We tried a few more places, like Holly’s Unique Weddings and Gowns in Plain City, and a consignment shop in Grandview that had a lot of wedding dresses. I didn’t really find anything that I liked in either of those places. At Holly’s Linda found a veil that had the same pattern as the dress I liked at David’s. She showed it to me and I said, “Oh! That matches my dress!” Alana caught me and said, “Did you hear what you just said?” After that I pretty much knew that we had to go back.
We went back to David’s very quickly because I had to be at church soon for band practice. I tried it on again, and I knew we had to get it. There was a small complication with the prices, because the size 8 said it was marked down to $299 and the size 6, that I needed, said it was $399. Alana, thankfully noticed the size 8 price, and the sales lady gave us that price! It was such a fun day! I feel very relieved to have that picked out after hearing horror stories of some brides not finding their dresses for a very long time. I can’t post the dress on here because then Matthew could cheat and see it. So, if you would like to see what it looks like, ask me!
Engagement

I thought it might be a good idea to tell the story of how Matt proposed. I am sure I have told a lot of you, but for those I haven’t, read on!
On the morning of Thanksgiving (November 27th) Matt was supposed to come pick me up to go to Hudson at 9 am. So I set my alarm for 7:30 and at 7:32 I woke up and my alarm hadn’t gone off yet. I was staring at my phone trying to figure out why my alarm didn’t go off and then my door started to open. I was very confused because nobody ever just opens my door – my parents always knock first. So I was all disoriented because I just woke up, my alarm didn’t go off, and someone was opening my door without knocking. And then Matt walked in.
I looked at him like he was crazy because I definitely knew he wasn’t supposed to be there for another hour and a half. He walked in and said, “Happy Thanksgiving-Birthday!” **Now you need to know that we decided after our birthdays in September that we were going to start celebrating our birthdays with gifts on Thanksgiving. It is Matt’s favorite holiday and we thought it would be a fun tradition.** He was holding a white box with a pink ribbon and a white bow, which was very creative wrapping for Matt since he HATES to wrap!
I asked him what he was doing at my house so early and he said he brought me a present. I wasn’t thinking that it would be the ring at all; first, because the box was way too big and second, he did his very best to make sure I thought he wouldn’t be ready by Thanksgiving. So he asked me if I wanted to open my gift now or later. Of course, I said now! I opened the box and it was the gloves that I had told him I wanted for Christmas. Thinking this was very sweet I just said thank you and held the box in my lap.
Matt then asked me if I wanted to try on the gloves. I said oh, of course and when I pulled the gloves out of the box, the ring was on the left glove on the ring finger! I was totally shocked! He told me to give him the ring, so I did, and he got down on one knee and did a very sweet proposal. I obviously said yes, after crying a little. It was a very very sweet proposal that Matt lost many hours of sleep over.
Needless to say, it was the best Thanksgiving ever!
